Last day in Perth. I LOVE FREMANTLE!

The last few days in Perth, I kinda missed Singapore. I missed Singapore’s food especially and sometimes the weather. When we were in Perth, the cold winter turn practically everything cold. Sometimes when you want your hands, the water is cold and you will need to adjust. Hot food will turn cold very fast.

We went to Fremantle. Heard it even before I went. A very beautiful town with strong British accent.

The streets of Fremantle… ENJOY

Must visit Fremantle Market. They sell very interesting stuff inside. Only open from Friday to Monday. Wenwei bought his boomerang from a formal Boomerang Player, John Perry. We had fun playing with it ever since. Also bought Pure Columbian coffee powder for my dad.  Lots of stuff. You will need to see it for yourself.

Fremantle Prison. A tourist attraction now. No more prisoners.

Wild parrot. If this is found in Singapore, most probably would spend its life in Jurong Bird Park.

18G

Many of them feasting. So cool for a park to have wild parrots.

Time at Fremantle was simply too short! But never mind, we had a fruitful shopping trip at Perth city where Wenwei and I got an iTouch each. $77 cheaper. Wenjie got his limited edition Crumpler bag. Only available in Australia. Very nice.

Good bye to Uncle’s Kuan cosy house. Without the rest of the gang, this trip would not be a successful and an EXCITING one. Many thanks to Uncle Kuan and family, for accommodating us. The aunties who make sure our stomachs were filled up with gourmet cuisines. And and, for Uncle Kuan and Uncle Daniel, driving us around. Though I’m not a Christian, I still want to thank their God for answering to the prayers and making this trip a safe one. Lastly, my parents who lent me money for this trip. Sounds funny? I’m SERIOUS ok!

Miss you guys!

Perth Day 8 – 11: Dunsborough

After we came back from Dongara, rested one night at Uncle Kuan’s house. THAT NIGHT WAS UNFORGETTABLE… Temperature fell to 2.2 degrees Celsius! I was shivering while sleeping. I wore about 3 layers of clothes + covered with 3 layers of blankets. Still cannot beat the cold. When Wenwei saw that, he immediately tugged my head under his armpit to keep me warm… How nice is that huh?…

We didn’t know what was the temperature even after we woke up. Everyone just felt very cold. When we went to the famous meat pie store, then the internet news reported that night was the COLDEST night for the month of July.
Amanda told us that if the day is all clear sky, the night will be colder than a rainy day. So weird… Singapore is the total opposite.

On the way to Dunsborough

Multiple awards for its pies. They are really nice but meat pies are not in my food list. I still prefer curry puff!

03F

Mandarin orange farm. Much smaller than the ones we see during CNY. But super juicy can!

04F

For about half a crate, it’s only AUD15 nia…

05F

Picker at work. They earn a lot. Maybe $20 per hour. Uncle Kuan told us that cashiers at the supermarket are paid $20/hour. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Harvey Cheese. They have a best selling cheese, name OMG cheese. When you eat it, it’s really “OH MY GOD!” World’s best cheese.

At Regency Beach Club, Geographe Bay. A chalet place.

14F

How nice if Pasir Ris chalet is like this?

12F

The one we stayed was super big. 4 bedrooms, with 1 of them almost as big as my flat cos it has a balcony. We stayed in the one which the bus parked.

11F

This is the one I’m talking about. This chalet comes with a heated outdoor Jacuzzi. It has everything. Open kitchen, 2 living rooms.

Guide introducing us to the lighthouse and its history. Quite interesting. AUD13 for the trip up. I find it a bit pricey. The journey only lasted for 30min.

We lost our way and ended up at Yallingup Reef. A blessing in disguise.

Perth’s mid winter weather is really unpredictable. It was so cloudy at the lighthouse. Then about 20min later, it was all bright and clear sky again.

The Sun looks like Jupiter. Got the ring.

47F

We went to this winery and chanced upon this. Gave us a very creepy feeling. Like some cult group sacrifice place. Eeeee…..

48F

Night shot taken at 5.59pm. In Singapore, my flat is still bright and baking in the evening Sun. The beach is just 20 steps away from our chalet unit. Yeah, it is that near.

49F

Too bad these shots have a lot of noise. Could have been better.

Since we were staying for 3 nights, some Sunrise shots were suggested. Woke up the next day at 6.30am. And we experienced this……..

50F 0.2s shuttle

This shot was taken at a shuttle speed of 0.2 seconds. Look at the Nikon neck strap. WHAT THE HELL! I stuck my tripod into the sand. My Nikon cap flew away while I tried to keep it in my pocket. I went to pick it up. Guess what, my tripod mounted with D40 fell straight to the ground!!! My heart just stopped momentarily.

I counted myself lucky that it was sandy. My camera was fine except fine sand caught in the gaps. And second luckily, it didn’t seep inside the body.

Went for Archery. Cool to have a outdoor archery. Nice if there’s some wild boars. HAHA.

56F

Famous Busselton Jetty. 1.8km long. Longest jetty in the southern hemisphere. The photo is an indication that we traveled to Perth at a wrong time. In Spring, the water is crystal blue/green. So much so that you can see the bottom. Wah lau… We saw muddy water lo.

57F

Strong winds. This was the most most most extreme condition I’ve ever been. I CLUNG to the railings of jetty for my dear life. Photo and video in Wenwei’s blog

We had several outdoor lunches at nice beaches and parks. This was the most memorable one. Do we look like refugees? Indeed we were! Because of the strong wind that nearly blew me away, all of us ran to the tunnel in the playground. Seeking refuge. Ate spaghetti and chicken porridge + extra ingredient; SAND! Tasted crispy.

60F

Heated massage Jacuzzi for the drizzling night. It cost $500 per night for 3 nights shared among 9 people. About $170 per person for 3 nights. Cheap cheap hor?! It can house even more people because the house has a few large sofas and daybeds.
Next: Last night in Perth and we went Fremantle. VERY CHIO TOWN!
